Richard A. Planto, CLTC, CLU, ChFC
Financial Advisor
Richard’s experience in the financial services industry exceeds three decades. From 1979 to 1986, he helped build Businessmen’s Assurance Company of America as a Sales Manager and Agent, and eventually as the General Manager. As the youngest GM ever hired by the company at the time, Richard helped grow the practice by increasing firm efforts in recruiting, training, and improvements to productivity. Between 1987 and 1994, Richard worked for Connecticut Mutual in San Antonio, eventually as a Vice President of Agencies at their corporate headquarters in Hartford. In 1994, Richard returned to San Antonio and, with Gene Roe, started Planto Roe Financial Services, Inc.; a comprehensive financial services firm committed to helping clients attain long-term financial success. Today, with his new partner Dave Bavero, the name of the firm has changed to Symmetry Financial Solutions. Symmetry is one of the largest privately owned firms that offers financial planning, advisory services, 401k services, and other financial products in San Antonio and the surrounding area.
Born and raised in San Antonio, Richard is an alumnus of Trinity University, where he met Sara, his wife of over 40 years. Richard and Sara have two children – Rebekah and Samuel.
David Gay
Financial Advisor
David was born and raised in McKinney, Texas. He attended Texas A&M University and after graduating in 1986 began a career in engineering and business development. A 20+ year career in aerospace and defense contracting provided David with a solid understanding of corporate financials and the importance of fiduciary responsibility. After years of providing investment advice to family and friends he turned his hobby into a new career.
As a part of giving back to the San Antonio community especially to children and young adults, David became involved with Aggie Park and the San Antonio Texas A&M Foundation (board member 2022-2023) raising money to provide college scholarships, and Alamo Kiwanis Club that raises money for local Bexar County children’s charities. David is also a member of the Alamo Heights Chamber of Commerce.
Hunting dove, pheasant, ducks, and quail led David to the world of hunting retrievers. As a member of Alamo Retriever Club for over 15 years David served as the club president for 12 years, and currently serves on their board of directors. He has two Labrador Retrievers, Gin and Rye that enjoy hunting and running AKC and HRC hunt tests and field trials. David recently joined the San Antonio Gun Club board of directors to help foster the next generation of young shooters and hunters.

CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERâ„¢
Meet Amanda Duran, CFP®
A legacy changer, helping to change legacies for families, one financial plan at a time.
Financial planning is one of the most intimate and potentially stressful topics. Behind every investment account, retirement plan, and financial decision is a person, a family, and a future they care about. That’s why I believe effective financial planning begins with truly getting to know my clients—their goals, priorities, concerns, and what matters most to them. I check in and listen to ease and lift what burdens I can. Having a financial teammate helps clients have an unbiased point of view. Being a fiduciary is a great responsibility that I take very seriously.
As a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™, I provide comprehensive financial guidance designed to help individuals and families navigate the complexities of retirement planning, investments, IRAs, insurance, and long-term financial goals. My approach combines technical expertise with a genuine commitment to the people I serve.
I take pride in being someone my clients can turn to with questions or when they face an important financial decision. I take the time to explain the “why” behind recommendations, simplify complex financial topics, and help clients feel informed rather than overwhelmed. My goal is to build lasting relationships based on trust, transparency, and a shared commitment to their financial future.
My commitment to helping others extends beyond my work. I actively volunteer through my church and serve on the board of a local nonprofit organization. Giving back to my community is an important part of who I am, and it reflects the same spirit of service I bring to my client relationships.
Whether you’re preparing for retirement, navigating a major life transition, managing your investments, or simply looking for clarity around your financial future, I’m here to help you understand your options and move forward with confidence. I got into this industry because many of my close friends and family growing up did not make good financial decisions. I firmly believe that people don't want to make bad decisions but are uninformed to make better ones. Many times I see people wanting to try and clean up their financial mess before reaching out to a professional to help clean up their financial mess. It's like trying to diagnose yourself before going to the doctor. While you might have many great resources, a professional who has spent decades in that industry can help provide a guide and path forward in the most efficient and effective way.
I believe financial planning should be about more than building wealth—it should be about helping you use your resources thoughtfully to support the life, family, and future that matter most to you.
